Temporary Political News Producer - Editor (Video Production)

Location: In-office in Washington, DC, United States; able to work nights and weekends as needed.

Salary: $63,000–$68,000 annually, based on experience.

What you will do

• Develop, write, edit, and produce political video news for streaming, digital, YouTube, broadcast, and social media.
• Collaborate with reporters, anchors, producers, and other departments on original videos, interviews, investigations, press conferences, Congressional votes, and hearings.
• Create and monitor livestreams and run live news shows using OBS, VMIX, and Frequency for website, YouTube, and OTT platforms.
• Develop compelling editorial formats, story angles, headlines, descriptions, and YouTube thumbnails.
• Maintain quality standards for storytelling, brand voice, production consistency, codecs, and video formats.
• Adapt quickly to breaking news and changing political stories while pitching relevant series and standalone package ideas.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience producing news, political, breaking news, or digital video content.
• Strong news writing, research, communication, editorial judgment, and political knowledge.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.
• Knowledge of ENPS or iNews, livestream production, video formats, production equipment, audio mixing, camera setup, and lighting.
• Ability to multitask, work independently and collaboratively, and handle a fast-paced news environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, television production, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Broadcast news control room experience, including routing and monitoring TVU sources.
• Experience developing editorial video formats and using audience and competitive analytics to improve engagement.
