Safety Specialist I or II (Transmission and Distribution)

Location: Alvarado, Texas; location-based field work with travel throughout the assigned project area

Salary: USD $73,000.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, paid weekly via direct deposit.

What you will do

• Perform site visits, document safety behaviors and work conditions, and conduct behavior-based observations and PPE hazard assessments.
• Coordinate site-specific safety plans, participate in safety and project meetings, and align client requirements with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Coach and mentor field personnel and coordinate or facilitate orientations, OSHA refreshers, customer training, and post-incident training.
• Investigate accidents and injuries, perform root-cause analyses, support incident case management, and track corrective actions.
• Support safety committees by assessing performance trends and improving safety processes and tools.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform essential duties at a company-designated office or field location.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience in environmental, health, and safety field roles.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Problem-solving, situation-analysis, organizational, detail-attention, and independent-working skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence behavior.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and other industry-related safety regulations.
• Ability to collaborate with coworkers, departments, clients, subcontractors, and external contacts while maintaining strong relationships.
• Basic understanding of electric construction project-management practices and procedures.
• Ability to travel to job sites for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Safety certification such as CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, or CSP.
• Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or a related field; relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
