Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist

Location: Poway, California, US; on-site role with travel or extended hours as needed to support remote facilities.

Salary: $68,600 annually.

What you will do

• Conduct workplace and building safety inspections, identify hazards, and recommend mitigation measures.
• Maintain safety documentation and support OSHA, regulatory, and outside-agency audits and site visits.
• Coordinate and lead department-specific training on ergonomics, hazardous materials, material handling, emergency procedures, and PPE.
• Support hazardous waste management and environmental health initiatives.
• Act as a safety liaison for remote facilities and coordinate consistent EHS standards and programs across locations.
• Investigate non-routine safety incidents, document findings, and recommend immediate and long-term corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus 2+ years of progressive professional experience in safety engineering or industrial safety. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for the formal degree.
• Solid understanding of OSHA standards, occupational safety principles, industrial hygiene concepts, and compliance regulations.
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills for delivering training and documenting audit findings.
• Analytical skills to evaluate complex safety requirements, resolve non-routine technical issues, and handle sensitive compliance data confidentially.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office and EHS software.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Willingness to work extended hours or travel to remote sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certification.
• Forklift and/or torque lift operation experience or trainer certification.
