AltaGas - EHS Specialist

Location: Blythe, California, United States; onsite power plant role involving climbing, confined spaces, PPE use, varied weather conditions, and on-call support during outages or incidents.

Salary: $83,200–$120,550 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.

AltaGas is hiring for an EHS role supporting its Blythe plant and its safety-focused operations.

What you will do

• Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, NERC, and state/local environmental permits, including Title V, SWPP, and SPCC.
• Prepare environmental reports covering waste management and air emissions, and maintain OSHA 300 logs and incident documentation.
• Develop and implement safety programs for Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and Arc Flash Safety.
• Conduct facility inspections, risk assessments, behavior-based safety observations, and corrective and preventative actions.
• Deliver employee and contractor training, lead safety committee meetings, oversee contractor safety, and promote a strong safety culture.
• Investigate accidents and near misses, lead the Emergency Response Team, and coordinate emergency drills.

Requirements

• EHS experience, ideally in power generation or heavy manufacturing.
• Understanding of EPA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
• Ability to foster a positive work environment and uphold safety and ethical standards.
• Ability to work in a power plant environment involving climbing, confined spaces, PPE use, and varied weather conditions.
• Willingness to support on-call needs during outages or incidents.
• High school diploma required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• CSP, CIH, or ASP certification.
