Military Fellowship Program: Engineering Manager (Systems Engineering) (Aerospace and Defense): Managing systems engineering teams and coordinating requirements, design, integration, verification, schedules, budgets, and technical risks for next-generation airborne command-and-control aircraft with an accent on systems integration, requirements management, and program execution. Focus on leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, developing staff, managing resources and risks, and supporting the SAOC mission.

Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States; onsite role. Eligibility is limited to active-duty military members who can participate in the DoD SkillBridge program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain required U.S. authorizations, and must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. security clearance.

What you will do

  • Manage engineering discipline teams through program execution for complex aerospace and defense products.
  • Represent engineering in management meetings and ensure designs, documentation, approvals, schedules, and budgets support program goals.
  • Support staffing plans, schedules, budgets, bids, estimates, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
  • Maintain and improve engineering tools, processes, procedures, and training.
  • Collaborate on recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, mentoring, performance evaluations, and career development.
  • Provide technical direction and facilitate conflict resolution across multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline.
  • Typically 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 4+ years of management experience.
  • Experience with requirements management and derivation, systems design and integration, technical risk management, and verification and validation.
  • Experience leading large systems design and development teams and working in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Experience with computer-aided engineering tools, analysis, and simulation.
  • Active-duty military status, DoD SkillBridge eligibility, U.S. work authorization, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with MBSE, traditional systems engineering, baseline definition, trade studies, EVM, and ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
  • Experience with Jama, Dassault 3DX, Cameo, Dymola, MATLAB, and Microsoft Project.
  • INCOSE CSEP/ESEP certification.
  • Background in aerospace and defense, the U.S. Department of Defense, or the U.S. military.
  • Experience recruiting, mentoring, training, evaluating, and developing engineering staff.
