Medical Assistant, Certified - Gastroenterology, Stoneham (Gastroenterology)

Location: GI Stoneham Office, 51 Montvale Ave, Stoneham, MA 02180, United States. Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m.–4:15 p.m.; may occasionally cover satellite locations.

Pay range: $23.00–$26.91 per hour.

What you will do

• Manage patient flow, room utilization, provider availability, and communication of delays.
• Prepare patients, exam rooms, and medical records for visits, including patient identifiers, chief complaints, social histories, medications, and pain levels.
• Record vital signs and perform specimen collection and ordered point-of-care testing, including urine, pregnancy, strep, hemoglobin A1C, and glucose tests.
• Assist or chaperone providers and nurses with examinations, treatments, procedures, immunizations, and patient education.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing, surgical procedures, referrals, prior authorizations, prescription renewal requests, and interpreter services.
• Support billing, electronic medical record documentation, supply management, quality improvement activities, telephone coverage, and administrative operations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant National Certification Attestation from AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.
• Basic Life Support certification, or the ability to obtain it within three months.
• Less than two years of Medical Assistant experience; the role requires basic knowledge gained through vocational or technical education and work experience.
• Ability to read, write, and spell in English for accurate documentation and message taking.
• Knowledge of EPIC, electronic medical records, universal precautions, patient handling, HIPAA, and age-specific patient care.

Nice to have

• Two years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Bilingual communication skills.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems.
