Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic

What you will do

• Service, repair, operate, and maintain campus air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems.
• Plan and schedule maintenance activities with the supervisor and identify supply and equipment needs.
• Support preventive maintenance programs for space conditioning and environmental controls.
• Respond to hot and cold calls, emergencies, severe weather, catastrophic events, evenings, weekends, and special events as required.
• Document work orders and communicate service progress or safety concerns to building occupants and the Campus Operations EHS team.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable state guidelines, laws, codes, and university policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Six years of related experience.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification, or ability to obtain it within 12 months.
• Registered TDLR AC Technician, or ability to obtain registration within 12 months.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, heat, allergens, and elevated noise levels, and to move light, medium, or heavy objects with assistance.
• Export-control authorization is required before employment begins; the position is security-sensitive and requires a criminal history investigation.

Nice to have

• Certified AC Technician under TDLR.
• Class A or Class B AC Contractor License.
• Contractor endorsements in environmental air conditioning, commercial refrigeration, or process cooling or heating.
