Design Engineer - Controls (HVAC)

Crane Aerospace & Electronics develops engineered products and systems, including control solutions for Building Services HVAC applications.

What you will do

• Design and develop control valves, actuators, and associated electromechanical control systems for HVAC applications.
• Create and present concept designs, translate customer requirements into technical specifications, and support new product development and value engineering projects.
• Develop control logic and integrated solutions for actuator and valve systems, including integration with Building Management Systems.
• Plan and execute prototype testing and performance validation with Test Technicians.
• Provide technical support for site issues, customers, and the Sales team.
• Participate in DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, and IATF 16949 design processes while managing NPD project files.

Requirements

• BEng, HND, or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience in electromechanical design, preferably in HVAC or Building Services.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Creo/Pro Engineer, with the ability to work with 2D and legacy data systems.
• Understanding of hardware circuit design, PCB layout, component selection, low-voltage 12V/24V systems, and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of control valves, actuators, fluid handling systems, Building Management Systems, and communication protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
• Experience delivering NPD and innovation projects in cross-functional teams, with strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Tridium Niagara Framework or similar building automation systems.
• Experience using Raspberry Pi for controls prototyping and development.
• Production engineering knowledge covering castings, machined parts, and plastic moldings.
