Research Security Coordinator

Texas A&M University’s Research Security and Export Controls Office supports the integrity, compliance, and ethical conduct of the university’s research enterprise.

What you will do

• Advise faculty, staff, and students on research compliance protocols and applicable federal and university regulations.
• Conduct preliminary protocol reviews, provide recommendations and feedback, and respond to compliance questions and non-compliance issues.
• Coordinate committee meetings, prepare minutes, monitor submissions and inboxes, and maintain compliance records.
• Help develop, update, and implement standard operating procedures and office processes.
• Support personnel screenings, purchase reviews, prohibited technology reviews, and high-risk global engagement assessments.
• Assist with regulatory training materials, training delivery, and export control training monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least three years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of federal and university research compliance regulations or experience in sponsored research administration or education.
• Strong analytical, oral, written, interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students, and other offices.
• Experience with export control or research security regulations is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with software systems, including Texas A&M System applications such as AggieBuy, FAMIS/Canopy, Maestro, and TrainTraq.
• Experience in a higher education or research environment, including restricted-party screening and research security vetting.
