TL;DR
Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Aerospace): Building reliable flight software and firmware that control spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout their missions with an accent on C++ embedded systems, real-time operation, and safety-critical reliability. Focus on capturing requirements, designing and integrating bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux software, and validating system quality and performance through testing.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $169,000–$216,000 annually, plus potential stock options.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop reliable firmware controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules across complete missions.
  • Own software design, development, testing, and integration.
  • Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended projects.
  • Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
  • Build highly reliable and available software systems.
  • Perform software verification, validation, and testing to ensure system quality and performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
  • Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware and software systems.
  • Professional experience with C++ and strong knowledge of its language concepts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
  • U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • Safety-critical software experience, especially in aerospace.
  • Experience with Python or Rust.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking.
