What you will do

• Conduct experimental research on novel materials, focusing on magnetic, optoelectronic, and thermoelectric properties.
• Develop and optimize measurement techniques for advanced materials characterization.
• Apply machine learning and predictive modeling to analyze experimental data and predict material behavior.
• Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and researchers on multidisciplinary projects.
• Write research papers and grant proposals, and present findings at conferences.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the laboratory.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field, earned within the past three years.
• Experience applying machine learning and predictive modeling to materials science or related fields.
• Strong background in magnetic, optoelectronic, and thermoelectric materials characterization.
• Ability to conduct independent research and work collaboratively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Employment requires working in residence at Prairie View A&M University; immigration sponsorship may be affected by applicable H-1B filing fees and Texas requirements.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with PPMS, XRD, SQUID magnetometry, optical spectroscopy, or scanning probe microscopy.
• Experience with high-performance computing or cloud-based machine learning platforms.
• Knowledge of data-driven approaches to materials design and optimization.
• Interest and experience in collaborative research across disciplines, including the humanities and social sciences.

• One-year full-time appointment with an option to renew for a second year.
• Maximum appointment term of two years.
• Continued employment depends on the renewal of restricted or grant funding.
• Salary is commensurate with education and experience within the assigned university salary range.
