Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering

What you will do

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering.
• Develop a sustained, distinguished, and externally funded scholarly research program.
• Produce scholarly publications and collaborate with university research centers and regional partners.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Contribute to curriculum development, accreditation activities, committees, and professional service.

Requirements

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date.
• Record of quality peer-reviewed or other scholarly publications.
• Strong potential for effective undergraduate and graduate teaching in mechanical and industrial engineering.
• Strong potential to establish an externally funded scholarly program.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
• This position is not eligible for new sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Academic or professional experience in aerospace dynamics and controls, aerospace structures, high-performance materials, advanced mechanics, or AI/ML guidance.
• A research program that complements and expands existing departmental research directions.
