Postdoctoral Researcher (CEES)

Location: Prairie View, Texas, United States; onsite research position.

Prairie View A&M University’s Center for Energy & Environmental Sustainability is an NSF-funded research center within the Texas A&M University System.

What you will do

• Design, plan, coordinate, and conduct experiments in environmental sustainability research.
• Work on membrane separation, carbon sequestration and conversion, life-cycle assessment, techno-economic analysis, air quality and climate applications, transportation materials, and sustainable infrastructure.
• Apply AI tools to relevant environmental research areas and analyze, interpret, and document experimental data.
• Prepare literature reviews, manuscripts, technical reports, research proposals, and grant reports.
• Support and train undergraduate and graduate researchers, laboratory staff, and field staff.
• Maintain research equipment, records, documentation, and compliance with laboratory safety requirements.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related engineering field.
• Ability to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot equipment, and maintain accurate and reproducible research records.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, quality assurance, quality control, and environmental health and safety requirements.
• Proficiency with software for data analysis, scientific visualization, technical writing, literature management, and research presentations.
• Strong scientific writing, oral communication, independent work, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to train researchers in laboratory procedures, instrument operation, data analysis, and research safety.

Nice to have

• Research experience in membrane separation, water or wastewater treatment, carbon sequestration and conversion, life-cycle assessment, techno-economic analysis, air quality, climate applications, transportation materials, or sustainable infrastructure.
• Experience with FTIR, TGA, XRD, XPS, UV-Vis, AAS, SEM/EDS, BET surface area analyzer, GC-MS, HPLC, or NMR instruments.
• Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate researchers.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, hazardous-material handling, and waste-disposal procedures.

• Salary is commensurate with education and experience within the assigned university compensation range.
• Continued employment depends on renewal of grant or restricted funding.
• Employment may be affected by current H-1B sponsorship restrictions and associated fees; the university will not pay the stated $100,000 H-1B fee.
