Director, IM R&D Procurement - CMC Product Development Category (Pharmaceuticals)

Base pay: €119,200–€204,355 annually

What you will do

• Develop and lead global category strategies for CMC Product Development and Clinical Manufacturing across Innovative Medicine modalities.
• Manage procurement strategies for drug substance, drug product, process and analytical development, GMP manufacturing, technology transfer, scale-up, and clinical supply manufacturing support.
• Build executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers and drive innovation, performance improvement, risk management, and business continuity.
• Partner with Therapeutics Development & Supply, CMC Product Development, Technical Operations, Clinical Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and R&D leadership.
• Deliver financial value through strategic sourcing, benchmarking, supplier collaboration, productivity improvements, and category optimization.
• Coach procurement professionals and represent IM R&D Procurement in executive forums and governance structures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent university qualification required; an MBA, master’s, or other advanced degree is preferred.
• Fluent English, written and oral, is required.
• At least 10 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, supply chain, pharmaceutical development, or related functions.
• Expertise in category strategy, strategic supplier relationship management, complex negotiations, and measurable value creation.
• Experience with CMC, product development, clinical manufacturing, technical operations, or pharmaceutical supply chain environments.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives, influencing senior leaders, developing teams, and working in highly regulated pharmaceutical or life sciences environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with small molecules, biologics, advanced therapies, cell and gene therapies, ADCs, peptides, RNA-based therapies, or emerging modalities.
• Experience managing external manufacturing or development service categories and driving supplier innovation.
• Experience in global, multicultural organizations, large-scale transformation, or category optimization initiatives.
