Software Engineer 2 (16 hours of Telework Available each Week)

Location: Hybrid in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States, with 16 hours of telework available each week.

Salary: $64.04–$120.27 per hour

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance complex software systems.
• Create and maintain data workflows and automation pipelines with Apache Airflow, including DAGs, scheduling, operators, and sensors.
• Build reliable, scalable, secure, and observable workflow orchestration solutions for data engineering, analytics, and operational use cases.
• Develop and integrate software, databases, web services, event-driven analytics, cloud solutions, and containerized applications.
• Debug software, resolve problem reports, improve performance, and execute component test procedures.
• Collaborate with data engineers, platform teams, system engineers, hardware engineers, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• United States citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with an agency-appropriate polygraph are required.
• Master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline plus 3 years of relevant experience, or bachelor’s degree plus 5 years, or 7 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Recent software development experience with Python and Java.
• Experience with Apache Airflow for orchestrating, scheduling, and monitoring complex workflows.
• Experience with Linux CLI and tools, Bash scripting, Git, Apache Spark, and containerization technologies such as Docker, containerd, or Podman.
• Experience with software design, testing, databases, source control, continuous integration, and agile development practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud Services and infrastructure.
