Software Engineer 2 (Hybrid) - Linux/Bash/Apache Airflow/Apache Spark/Docker/Podman/Git/AWS

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States — hybrid

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on years of experience.

What you will do

• Create and maintain data workflows and automation pipelines using Apache Airflow.
• Design, schedule, orchestrate, and monitor complex workflows with DAGs, operators, and sensors.
• Build reliable, scalable, observable, secure, and production-ready workflow orchestration solutions.
• Support data engineering, analytics, and operational use cases.
• Collaborate with data engineers, platform teams, and stakeholders to improve workflow efficiency.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen and currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus three years of relevant software engineering experience; or bachelor’s degree plus five years; or seven years of relevant experience.
• Experience with the Linux CLI, Linux tools, and Bash scripting for process automation.
• Recent software development experience with Python and Java.
• Experience with Apache Airflow and distributed big data processing engines including Apache Spark.
• Experience with Docker, Podman, containers, and Git.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
• Familiarity with AWS Cloud Services and infrastructure.
