What you will do

  • Support refinery operations in air compliance, air permitting, compliance reporting, emissions reporting, and general environmental compliance.
  • Develop, manage, and improve environmental compliance systems, policies, procedures, and record-keeping processes.
  • Prepare or support reports required by environmental permits and applicable regulations, and obtain required permits.
  • Review environmental equipment designs, engineering specifications, and cost estimates for regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate environmental problems, identify root causes, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, project engineers, regulators, public stakeholders, trade associations, and government affairs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with at least 5 years of relevant environmental experience in a process industry, or a bachelor's degree in a HES-related field or engineering.
  • Experience in refining, chemical, petrochemical, midstream, or another heavy industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of federal and state air regulations and experience with air permitting.
  • Ability to interpret environmental rules, assess regulatory impacts, and communicate compliance plans to local leadership.
  • Ability to review engineering designs and specifications for compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, planning, facilitation, and computer skills.

Nice to have

  • Fifteen years of relevant environmental experience with a high school diploma or GED.
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree with seven years of relevant environmental experience.
