What you will do

• Research, enterprise, shoot, write, voice, and edit news stories for daily broadcasts under tight deadlines.
• Develop and optimize breaking news, feature stories, and digital extras for websites and mobile platforms.
• Manage social media engagement, interact with audiences, and track traffic using metrics tools.
• Build community contacts, conduct field interviews, and review public records to gather and verify information.
• Pitch community-focused story ideas in editorial meetings and discuss story priorities with news managers.
• Operate TVU live transmission units and capture high-quality visuals and natural sound.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
• Expert proficiency with non-linear video editing using Adobe Premiere or Bit Central.
• Professional experience with broadcast field cameras and AP writing style, grammar, and syntax.
• Strong on-camera presence, clear vocal delivery, and the ability to ad-lib during breaking news and live reports.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during severe weather emergencies.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
