Maintenance Technician, Facilities and Utilities (Pharma Manufacturing)

Location: Petersburg, Virginia, United States; on-site evening shift. Schedule: 2-2-3, 12-hour shifts from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with periodic on-call duties.

What you will do

• Operate and maintain high-pressure steam boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps, HVAC systems, and related utility equipment.
• Inspect facility systems through daily rounds, record operating conditions, produce reports, and respond to infrastructure alarms.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pipefitting, HVAC/refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Coordinate equipment repairs and service with equipment owners, engineers, vendors, and outside contractors.
• Support preventive maintenance instructions, spare-parts inventory, work orders, and GMP documentation.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, calibration, and other cross-functional teams to support production.

Requirements

• High school diploma and at least two years of experience maintaining utilities or facilities equipment, or an associate’s degree in a technical field.
• Knowledge of utility equipment operation and maintenance, including boilers, air compressors, HVAC units, and related systems.
• Ability to use computerized systems and complete paperwork, work orders, and documentation accurately.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Availability for overtime, schedule adjustments, and periodic on-call support.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work autonomously within established procedures and guidelines.
