Expert Executive Communications Representative (Corporate Communications): Developing and executing external communications programs for senior executives across press, social media, owned content, public speaking, and executive forums with an accent on strategic messaging, media relations, and stakeholder communications. Focus on translating complex business and policy issues into compelling leadership content, preparing executives for high-stakes inquiries, and measuring communications effectiveness.

Location: Hybrid role based at an assigned headquarters in Oakland or Sacramento, California, with at least 25% travel. The position also requires on-call participation in an emergency response team, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $118,000–$188,000 annually, with a Bay Area midpoint of $153,000. The role is also eligible for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Develop strategic communications plans supporting the President and executive leadership.
  • Create executive briefing documents, talking points, keynote speeches, social media content, news releases, and web content.
  • Develop messaging for external audiences across press, digital, social, video, live events, and executive forums.
  • Build media relationships, respond to media inquiries, and prepare executives for interviews and high-stakes communications.
  • Advise internal and external leaders on key issues, reputational considerations, and communications strategy.
  • Coordinate messaging with Chiefs of Staff and the broader Customer and Corporate Affairs function, and measure communications effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, advertising, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in corporate communications, executive communications, journalism, politics, or a related field.
  • Experience advising senior executives in high-visibility, sensitive, and rapidly changing environments.
  • Ability to translate complex business, policy, and operational issues into clear communications for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with media engagement, executive interview preparation, and communications across multiple channels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, a valid driver’s license, and ability to travel as needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience in executive communications, crisis communications, issues management, or other high-stakes communications.
  • Experience in the energy, utility, public affairs, or another highly regulated sector.
