Director Communications and Engagement

Location: Gahanna, Ohio, United States

Base salary: $136,539–$208,565.50 annually, plus annual bonus and long-term incentive.

What you will do

• Plan and direct media relations, social media, employee communications, public policy advocacy, crisis communications, philanthropy, and advertising.
• Advise the operating company President and other leadership on public relations and community engagement.
• Develop communications, public relations, advertising, and crisis communications strategies and plans.
• Direct communication materials for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
• Support safety, operations, customer service, regulatory, and other business objectives through coordinated communications.
• Maintain the integrity and consistency of AEP and subsidiary company branding across the community and enterprise.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism, or a related discipline.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience, including 3 years of leadership experience in a major corporation, government, or news media environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Travel 10–25% of the time.
• Sedentary physical demand level.
