External Communications Specialist (Renewable Energy)

Location: Full-time onsite in the San Diego, California office, United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary: $87,095–$104,514 per year.

What you will do

• Draft and coordinate press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, talking points, briefing documents, and other external communications.
• Support media outreach, interview preparation, stakeholder relationships, and opportunities to increase company visibility.
• Research, interview subject matter experts, and create thought leadership articles, project spotlights, LinkedIn content, and other storytelling materials.
• Monitor industry, competitor, and company news and prepare reports on trends, opportunities, and reputational considerations.
• Support executive visibility, thought leadership, speaking materials, event communications, and employee advocacy initiatives.
• Manage the external communications editorial calendar and coordinate integrated initiatives with Communications, Marketing, Business Development, Operations, leadership, and creative resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, content marketing, media relations, or a related discipline.
• Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, interviewing, research, and information-gathering skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
