Principal Full-Stack Software Engineer (Python/React)

Location: Toronto, ON — hybrid, 3 days per week in the office

Base salary: $146,300–$182,900 per year, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the internal engineering platform, standards framework, and developer enablement ecosystem.
• Develop reusable quickstart templates, shared components, platform patterns, documentation, and playbooks.
• Improve developer onboarding, developer experience, CI/CD workflows, and engineering practices.
• Support the Internal Developer Portal and maintain static code analysis and quality gates with SonarCloud.
• Define API design, system architecture, integration patterns, and engineering standards across services.
• Lead the Center for Enablement team, set the platform roadmap, mentor engineers, and partner with product teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Python and FastAPI, JavaScript or TypeScript with ReactJS, API architecture, integration patterns, database design, SQL, and schema management.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of modern software architecture and engineering practices.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Toronto, with three office days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience building internal developer platforms or shared engineering tooling.
• Experience with Backstage or similar developer portals.
• Experience with SonarCloud, LinearB, Datadog, or similar engineering productivity tools.
• Experience leading platform or enablement teams.
