Gateway & Client Engineering Leader - USDS (Cybersecurity)

Location: San Jose, United States. The role is fully in-person, up to 5 days per week.

Base salary: $257,400–$616,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and operation of security gateways and the MAS endpoint assurance client.
• Build an internal engineering function and transition responsibilities from a cloud partner while maintaining service continuity.
• Improve availability, performance, and scalability through SRE practices across iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux applications.
• Integrate threat modeling, security code reviews, and automated testing into the secure development lifecycle.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage security engineers while establishing a culture of technical excellence and security ownership.
• Define the technical vision and roadmap and coordinate delivery with product, infrastructure, and compliance teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of software or security engineering experience, including 3 years managing engineering teams.
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale security solutions such as network gateways, proxies, or DLP systems.
• Strong understanding of secure software development lifecycle principles and practices.
• Ability to lead complex, multi-phase technical projects and deliver them on schedule.
• Availability for fully in-person work in San Jose, United States, up to 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience leading endpoint security client development for assurance, posture checking, or sandboxing.
• Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Expertise in API gateways, egress gateways, or database security gateways.
• Experience with threat modeling, security architecture reviews, and incident response.
