Location: Lubbock, Texas; onsite field, laboratory, and greenhouse work with travel to research sites throughout Texas and neighboring states.

What you will do
- Establish, maintain, harvest, and collect samples from agronomic field research trials.
- Support irrigation research by installing, maintaining, and monitoring field instrumentation, sensors, and irrigation systems.
- Operate and maintain agricultural equipment, research vehicles, laboratory equipment, and field systems.
- Prepare soil, water, and plant samples and assist with laboratory analyses related to soil fertility, soil health, water quality, and agronomic assessments.
- Enter, organize, verify, and maintain research data, records, inventories, reports, and documentation.
- Support faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, visiting scientists, extension demonstrations, field days, and producer meetings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of related experience.
- Valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
- Ability to follow scientific protocols, manage multiple projects, maintain accurate records, and work independently within a multidisciplinary research team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and basic mechanical aptitude.
- Frequent outdoor agricultural work, travel to research sites, and occasional evening or weekend work during planting, sampling, and harvest seasons are required.
Nice to have
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in agronomy, soil science, agricultural systems management, environmental science, natural resources, or a related discipline.
- Experience operating agricultural equipment and performing soil and water sampling.
- Familiarity with GPS, GIS, remote sensing, environmental monitoring equipment, or agricultural sensors.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, databases, and electronic data collection systems.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, crop production in semi-arid environments, and safe agricultural research practices.
