What you will do

• Perform scientific analysis and computational modeling of fratricide, normal, hostile, and intrinsic radiation environments and their effects on weapon systems and personnel.
• Conduct radiation transport, hardening and vulnerability, and electromagnetic pulse calculations.
• Support system planning, requirements definition, assessment, qualification, and test planning for current and future Navy weapon systems.
• Develop software code, technical reports, documentation, briefings, and presentations for Navy deliverables.
• Verify and validate simulation models, correlate modeling results with experimental data, and perform uncertainty and response analyses.
• Interface with government customers and travel to meetings and radiation, electrical, and mechanical test facilities as required.

Requirements

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• BS in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related STEM field with 5–7 years of experience; MS with 3–5 years; or PhD with 0–2 years.
• Experience with experimental design, execution, and modeling.
• Experience selecting and applying physical models to formal analysis of physical systems.
• Experience writing technical reports or articles and presenting results to technical subject-matter experts and government customers.

Nice to have

• PhD in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Radiation transport experience involving neutrons, photons, or electrons.
• Experience with C++, Fortran, Python, MCNP, or Attila.
• Experience creating code-to-code interfaces, post-processing routines, verification and validation practices, and statistical analysis of experimental data.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design and strategic weapon systems; ability to lead technical teams.
