Senior Manager, Responsible AI Governance (AI)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work with time split between the Lisbon office and remote work

What you will do

• Shape and mature the enterprise Responsible AI governance framework and operating model.
• Define governance controls, processes, roles, accountabilities, escalation pathways, reporting, and evidence practices for AI models and systems.
• Assess emerging AI regulations, guidance, standards, and assurance themes, translating them into practical governance requirements and recommendations.
• Support audits, inspections, internal reviews, and regulatory information requests by explaining the enterprise AI governance approach and coordinating evidence.
• Develop executive materials and decision-support content covering Responsible AI risks, options, and recommendations.
• Lead high-priority Responsible AI governance initiatives and coordinate cross-functional delivery.

Requirements

• Degree and 7 years of experience in Responsible AI, AI governance, AI risk, technology or regulatory policy, quality systems, compliance, audit readiness, AI/ML, or a related discipline.
• Experience translating regulatory, policy, audit, inspection, or standards-based expectations into governance requirements, controls, procedures, or operating models.
• Strong understanding of Responsible AI governance, AI risk management, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, Trustworthy AI characteristics, EU AI Act concepts, and FDA and international regulatory guidance.
• Ability to build evidence-based governance narratives and influence senior stakeholders in a complex matrixed environment.
• Technical fluency to engage with AI/ML, data science, engineering, and product teams on model and system lifecycles, monitoring, documentation, controls, and deployment.
• Fluency in English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, financial services, or another highly regulated industry.
• Familiarity with FDA, EMA, GxP, quality systems, audits, or regulatory inspections.
• Experience in technology policy, AI ethics, digital ethics, responsible innovation, model risk management, third-party AI, AI lifecycle governance, or enterprise technology governance.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
