Platform Engineer (Hybrid) - 28017

Location: Hybrid in Columbia, Maryland, with an average of 1–2 days per week in the office. U.S. citizenship is required.

What you will do

• Develop and deploy cloud platform infrastructure in AWS.
• Build custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex problems.
• Design and implement core software architecture from prototypes through operational applications.
• Define, build, and manage virtual cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Enhance, optimize, and improve the robustness of existing code bases.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex systems, infrastructure, and deployment issues.

Requirements

• 9+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a master’s degree, or 13 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret-level security clearance are required. Existing Secret or TS clearance may also be considered.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment from the Columbia, Maryland office 1–2 days per week.
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS, with Kubernetes, Ansible, and cloud storage layers such as Ceph, Rook, or Longhorn.
• Programming experience with Python or Go, strong Linux knowledge, and shell/Bash scripting proficiency.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with DISA’s Big Data Platform or systems such as Cloudera, Hortonworks, or MapR.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and development tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
• Experience with Puppet, Maven, virtualization platforms, or additional Ansible use cases.
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
