Internal Corrosion Engineer/Specialist (Pipeline)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Houston Headquarters in Houston, Texas, with occasional travel to field or corporate locations of approximately 10–25%.

What you will do

• Oversee the internal corrosion control program for the Natural Gas Pipelines business unit and ensure consistent application of company procedures.
• Provide technical expertise to field corrosion supervisors and technicians on monitoring, mitigation, gas quality, sampling, corrosion coupons, probes, and maintenance pigging schedules.
• Support operations, measurement and gas quality, project engineering, and engineering design teams with corrosion-related technical issues.
• Develop and maintain corrosion standards, procedures, O&M materials, operator qualification content, and training courses.
• Review mitigation plans from inline and internal corrosion inspections and recommend cost-effective solutions involving chemicals, coatings, materials, and monitoring technologies.
• Perform corrosion failure analysis, determine root causes with metallurgists and laboratory personnel, and develop remediation plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related science discipline.
• Analytical, technical writing, public speaking, communication, planning, scheduling, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with management, peers, field personnel, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
• Knowledge of or ability to develop knowledge of applicable federal and state pipeline safety regulations, including 49 CFR Part 192 Subpart I.
• Valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
• Must be willing and able to work in an office environment and travel to field or corporate locations as required.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing corrosion control programs in the gas or liquids pipeline industry.
• Knowledge of AMPP/NACE, API, ASME, pipeline operations, integrity assessment, and nondestructive testing methods.
• Experience evaluating inline inspection surveys and writing or revising technical standards and procedures.
• Experience working with PHMSA or state regulatory agencies.
• AMPP/NACE Specialist certification and advanced computer and data skills.
