Accountant II (Accounting)

Location: Hybrid, with three days per week in an office in Salt Lake City, Boise, Fargo, Portland, Vancouver, Renton, Medford, Burlington, or Lewiston. Preference is given to candidates within commuting distance of the Salt Lake City, Boise, Fargo, or Lewiston offices or willing to relocate.

Salary: North Dakota expected hiring range of $26.42–$35.74 per hour; full range of $23.91–$38.25 per hour. The expected hiring range in Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Idaho is $25.93–$37.26 per hour.

What you will do

• Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, financial statements, and supporting accounting documentation.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate unusual transactions, and recommend process improvements.
• Gather, validate, and analyze accounting and statistical data, including cost trends, allocations, budgets, and forecast variances.
• Maintain cost accounting allocation tables and coordinate validation with operating departments and other health plans.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing reconciliations, schedules, adjustments, and explanations.
• Prepare invoicing, incentive worksheets, ad hoc analyses, and provide backup support through cross-training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, with 1–3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Analytical, judgment, planning, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with stakeholders, staff, management, auditors, and other departments.
• Working knowledge of company PC and mainframe software and systems.
• Knowledge of relevant accounting standards based on the area of expertise, including GAAP and SAP; cost or government accounting may include CAS and FAR.
• Ability to work three days per week in one of the listed offices and to work overtime or outside normal business hours when required.

Nice to have

• CPA, CMA, or MBA.
• Experience with AI tools and technologies for productivity and professional decision-making.
