R&D Electrical Engineer (High Voltage)

Location: Medway, Massachusetts, United States; onsite

Compensation range: $83,500–$155,200 per year, with potential eligibility for annual incentives.

What you will do

• Design and develop high-voltage bus system products and improve existing designs.
• Perform dielectric design and electrical stress analysis of high-voltage components and systems using finite-element tools such as COMSOL, Electro, or Coulomb.
• Optimize component geometry to reduce electrical stress and improve performance and reliability.
• Support customer-specific designs involving voltage ratings, insulation systems, and testing parameters.
• Develop electrical specifications aligned with IEC, ANSI, NEMA, and CENELEC standards.
• Collaborate on type testing, validation, material and component qualification, new product development, cost improvement, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Ideally, 3+ years of experience with high-voltage equipment or components, power transmission and distribution, electrical insulation, dielectric systems, utility, rail electrification, industrial power, or a similar field.
• Experience with electrical stress analysis, insulation coordination, or high-voltage testing.
• Familiarity with IEC, ANSI, or NEMA standards.
• Ability to collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and purchasing.

Nice to have

• Experience with SF₆ or non-SF₆ systems.
• Experience using finite-element analysis tools such as COMSOL, Electro, or Coulomb.
