Текст:
TL;DR
GNC Engineering Intern – Summer 2027 (Aerospace) (Python/Julia/C/C++/Matlab): Developing spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control algorithms, high-fidelity actuator and sensor models, and six-degree-of-freedom simulations with an accent on attitude and orbit control, state estimation, and mission design. Focus on testing algorithms in integrated simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments, supporting spacecraft operations, and validating space-grade flight software.
Location: In-person at the headquarters in Torrance, California; the posting also lists Los Angeles. The internship requires a minimum 12-week commitment.
Compensation: $30–$40 per hour for this non-exempt role. Housing and travel stipends may be available.
Company
develops and mass-produces high-power satellite platforms for missions ranging from low Earth orbit to deep space.
What you will do
- Develop models in an in-house six-degree-of-freedom spacecraft simulation.
- Develop algorithms for precise pointing, state estimation, orbit transfer, mission design, and station-keeping.
- Test algorithms through unit testing, integrated simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
- Model high-fidelity spacecraft actuators, sensors, and vehicle dynamics.
- Support actuator and sensor hardware trade studies for next-generation spacecraft.
- Assist with spacecraft operations and verification and validation of flight software.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in aerospace, mechanical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- At least six months of technical engineering experience outside the classroom, such as laboratory work, research, extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, or previous employment.
- Experience using Python, Julia, C/C++, or Matlab for algorithm development, implementation, and simulation.
- Availability for at least 12 weeks of in-person work at the Torrance headquarters.
- Must be a U.S. person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.
Nice to have
- Enrollment in a master's or PhD program in aerospace, mechanical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with Rust for algorithm development, implementation, and simulation.
- Experience with GNC actuator or sensor sizing, selection, and integrated system design.
- Understanding of trajectory analysis, modeling, and mission design.
- Ability to collaborate with technicians, engineers, and managers in a dynamic environment.
Culture & Benefits
- Collaborative work with mentors and engineering team members.
- Significant ownership and autonomy on complex projects.
- Exposure to spacecraft operations and space-grade flight software.
- Housing and travel stipend may be available.
