TL;DR
GNC Engineer II (Aerospace): Designing, analyzing, integrating, testing, and operating guidance, navigation, and control systems for satellites and payloads with an accent on attitude estimation, guidance and control, orbital requirements, and mission simulation. Focus on building, testing, and flying hardware, modeling spacecraft behavior, defining trajectories, and solving on-orbit and post-CDR failure recovery challenges.

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $113,000–$136,400 per year

What you will do

  • Design and analyze guidance, navigation, and control systems for satellites and payloads.
  • Support GNC activities across design, integration, testing, and operations.
  • Perform trade studies, participate in design reviews, create models, and run simulations and system tests.
  • Define spacecraft trajectories, orbital requirements, pointing modes, maneuver plans, and mission events.
  • Build, test, and fly spacecraft hardware.
  • Collaborate on satellite development and contribute to company-critical projects beyond the core GNC scope.

Requirements

  • Master of Science or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least two years of internship, research, or industry experience with satellite attitude and orbit systems.
  • Expertise in attitude estimation, guidance and control, coordinate-frame transformations, linear algebra, and nonlinear systems.
  • Experience with multiple spaceflight missions from concept through operations, including LEO satellites.
  • Experience with GNC architecture, requirements specification, design, testing, operations, and recovery from on-orbit failures.
  • Fluency in Python and C++, or other modeling languages, plus familiarity with STK, Basilisk, GMAT, or FreeFlyer.

Nice to have

  • CubeSat or SmallSat experience.
  • Hands-on experience with spacecraft instrumentation, subsystems, and test laboratories.
  • Experience with LEO, MEO, GEO, and deep-space satellites.
  • Experience with communications satellites and multiple mission simulation or flight architectures.
