TL;DR
Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Engineer (Spacecraft Systems): Supporting NASA's Deep Space Logistics mission by reviewing, analyzing, testing, and validating spacecraft GN&C systems and requirements with an accent on trajectory modeling, 6-DOF simulations, and non-GPS navigation. Focus on developing independent verification and validation analyses, assessing spacecraft designs and operations concepts, and coordinating technical recommendations across mission design, avionics, and flight software teams.

Location: Kennedy Space Center, Florida, United States; full-time onsite

hirify.global provides engineering support to NASA for the Deep Space Logistics Engineering Support contract and Gateway Logistics Services missions.

What you will do

  • Review spacecraft GN&C system architectures, hardware requirements, designs, assembly procedures, test plans, and technical data.
  • Develop and perform trajectory, attitude, 6-DOF motion, rendezvous and proximity operations, and navigation analyses for deep-space spacecraft.
  • Support independent verification and validation of requirements using modeling and simulation tools.
  • Track requirements verification and validation progress and support design, system, and production control board reviews.
  • Provide technical recommendations on architecture, design, testing, risks, hazards, and program acceptance.
  • Coordinate with NASA personnel, logistics module providers, mission design, avionics, flight software, and other technical disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline with 14 years of related experience, or a master's degree with 10 years of related experience.
  • Experience with orbital dynamics modeling and simulation tools such as FreeFlyer, STK, or Copernicus.
  • Experience developing GN&C algorithms, including 6-DOF models, and implementing simulations with MATLAB, Python, and C++.
  • Experience creating space systems requirements documents, including functional requirements and verification success criteria.
  • Experience designing, assembling, verifying, testing, and operating spacecraft GN&C systems and navigation sensors.
  • U.S. citizenship and successful completion of a U.S. government background investigation are required.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree, deep-space NASA mission experience, and familiarity with human-rated spaceflight.
  • Experience with flexible-body spacecraft, propellant slosh, non-GPS navigation, and NASA code POST2.
  • Familiarity with NASA systems engineering standards, procedures, launch service providers, and multi-organization requirements verification.
