Hourly pay: $30–$40 per hour. Housing and travel stipend may be available.

Company

Develops high-power satellite platforms for commercial and U.S. government missions from low Earth orbit to deep space.

What you will do

  • Own avionics system design, performance, hardware, and testing across the satellite bus.
  • Capture requirements, lead design trades, build avionics test systems, and integrate flight hardware into spacecraft.
  • Design, build, and program automated test stands for avionics hardware.
  • Execute component and system testing through development, acceptance, qualification, and integration stages.
  • Support spacecraft integration testing, troubleshooting, production issue resolution, and spacecraft risk management.
  • Create technical documentation and write modular test, analysis, and automation software in Python and Rust.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in electrical or computer engineering.
  • At least 6 months of technical engineering experience outside university classroom work, such as laboratory work, research, extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, or prior employment.
  • Available for a minimum 12-week, in-person internship at the Torrance headquarters.
  • Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.
  • Ability to collaborate with technicians, engineers, and managers in an integrated engineering environment.

Nice to have

  • Environmental testing experience with space electronics and harnessing, including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, radiation, and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment, high-voltage systems, NX or similar CAD, PCB schematic capture, and board layout using Altium or similar tools.
  • Experience with Linux, Bash, C++, and networking systems and tools including TCP/UDP, IP, VLANs, iperf, and tcpdump.
  • Experience with vehicle-level testing, test procedures, test sequencing, and analytical hardware-health review.

Culture & Benefits

  • Three-month internship in a highly collaborative, fast-paced spacecraft engineering environment.
  • Work alongside mentors and cross-functional engineering teams on complex satellite projects.
  • Hands-on exposure to avionics interfaces, harnessing, instrumentation, RF components, and GNC actuators.
  • Housing and travel stipend may be available.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available during the application and interview process.
