Software Engineer 1 (Java)

Location: Hybrid in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; telework is possible up to one day per week as tasking permits.

Salary: $52.46–$107.37 per hour before benefits.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance full-stack Java software for Data Transformation Solutions.
• Build middle-tier and backend data-storage components and support ETL development.
• Design and implement database interfaces, queries, algorithms, caching services, and microservices.
• Integrate software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
• Debug defects, resolve software problem reports, and improve application performance.
• Develop and execute software component tests and document design and test results.

Requirements

• United States citizenship and a position-appropriate security clearance are required.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with an agency-appropriate polygraph, including current PRIVAC eligibility, is required.
• Seven years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline; four additional years of relevant software engineering experience may substitute for the degree.
• Professional experience with Java, JavaScript, Python, Agile development, secure corporate authentication, large datasets, microservices, local caching, and ETL.
• Experience with Docker, Docker Compose, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.

Nice to have

• Commercial cloud services, preferably AWS.
• PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Go, Rust, C++, Vue, MinIO, ClickHouse, or Graphite.
