Location: On-site in Austin, Texas, United States, at least four days per week at the Center. Travel may include up to 15% domestic or international travel. Relocation may be authorized. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.
Salary: $145,676–$178,049 annual compensation range, including base pay and variable incentive pay if eligible.

What you will do
- Lead the architecture and development of electronic locating and marking systems for buried asset applications.
- Design field-deployed sensor and automation hardware architectures, including analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power circuits.
- Integrate embedded processors, microcontrollers, connectivity, and industrial I/O such as EtherCAT into board-level designs.
- Specify components while balancing performance, cost, availability, and manufacturability.
- Design for EMC/EMI, signal integrity, power integrity, and compliance with CE, UL, and FCC requirements.
- Drive feasibility studies, prototyping, engineering verification, intellectual property development, and commercialization in collaboration with firmware, software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, suppliers, and PCB fabricators.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of experience developing electronic hardware product architectures.
- At least 7 years of experience designing electronic hardware from concept through prototype and production.
- At least 7 years of experience with analog, digital, and/or power circuit design.
- Experience collaborating across firmware, software, mechanical, systems engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship is required.
Nice to have
- Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with RF/HF, power electronics, motor-drive or servo-drive circuits, mixed-signal design, sensor interfaces, and signal conditioning.
- Experience with high-speed digital design, signal integrity, power integrity, EMC/EMI compliance, and regulatory certification.
- Experience integrating embedded microcontrollers, industrial fieldbus I/O, machine-vision electrical systems, robotics, industrial automation equipment, or autonomous systems.
- Familiarity with DFM, DFT, DfR, contract manufacturers, and PCB fabricators.
