Financial Examiner (Regulatory Insurance)

Location: Remote; work from home from any US location, with flexibility to travel

Compensation range: $94,400–$178,800 annually, plus eligibility for a discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Perform risk-focused financial examinations for insurance clients on behalf of state insurance departments.
• Review examination work papers and evaluate insurance company and healthcare organization operations.
• Analyze financial statements, operating reports, records, solvency, and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Prepare and supervise reports, exhibits, supporting schedules, and recommendations addressing questionable financial conditions.
• Interpret new, proposed, and revised insurance laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Provide guidance on insurance regulation and recommend or document actions that protect solvency and ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; an MBA or professional certifications is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience as an accountant, auditor, or examiner, including experience with insurance companies or a state insurance department.
• Insurance industry experience is required.
• Strong accounting, auditing, analytical, examination, presentation, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with presentation, spreadsheet, and project-planning software; proficiency in TeamMate, ACL/Access, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, demonstrate ethical and professional standards, and support team development.
