Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op (Spring 2027) (Plastic Packaging)

Location: Piedmont, South Carolina; onsite reporting required at the Greenville, South Carolina ORBIS Corporation location. Ability to travel to manufacturing plants is required.

What you will do

• Lead and manage assigned custom packaging design projects.
• Create timely design samples and cost-effective, manufacturable designs based on customer and sales-team requirements.
• Apply technical knowledge and judgment to meet customer specifications.
• Fabricate prototypes and verify design quality before manufacturing and customer approval.
• Identify and suggest solutions for issues found during assembly and manufacturing.
• Follow company safety policies and seek guidance from design-team members or the manager when needed.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education and pursuing a junior- or senior-level technical or bachelor's degree in Plastic Engineering Technology, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering, and packaging engineering.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and use design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of automotive or vehicle products and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Work authorization sponsorship is not available for intern and co-op positions.
