Mechanical Engineer (Plastics Manufacturing)

hirify.global manufactures plastic packaging products and operates a production facility requiring mechanical engineering support.

What you will do

• Provide mechanical engineering support for manufacturing projects, automation initiatives, infrastructure improvements, and cost-reduction efforts.
• Develop project scopes, manage engineering projects, and support workflow and production-line optimization.
• Design, improve, fabricate, install, and commission manufacturing and auxiliary equipment.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs, improve equipment reliability, and maintain Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Monitor OEE and FTQY metrics, investigate improvement opportunities, and reduce scrap through collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, technicians, supervisors, and operators.
• Coordinate vendors and contractors and create equipment documentation, technical procedures, and training materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 0–5 years of experience in mechanical design, equipment installation, startup, or project engineering.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong communication, teamwork, and project-prioritization skills.
• Ability to work in an in-office manufacturing environment, access production equipment and elevated platforms, wear required PPE, and stand, walk, bend, and climb as necessary.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of engineering experience in plastics or related manufacturing.
• Experience with automation, material handling, blow molding, packaging equipment, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability.
• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley controls and PLC logic, AutoCAD, or Brady Link360.
• Project management, ROI analysis, capital project justification, or team training experience.
• Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma certification.
