Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op (Fall 2027)

Location: Onsite at the ORBIS Corporation location in Greenville, South Carolina; the position is listed in Piedmont, South Carolina and may require travel to manufacturing plants.

What you will do

• Lead and manage assigned packaging design projects.
• Create customer-specific design samples and cost-effective, manufacturable designs from concept through production.
• Develop and interpret final prints and use design software to support engineering work.
• Fabricate prototypes for customer approval and verify design quality before manufacturing.
• Identify and suggest solutions for assembly and manufacturing issues.
• Follow company safety policies and collaborate with design team members and managers.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education and pursuing a junior or senior year of a technical or bachelor's degree in Plastic Engineering Technology, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering, and packaging engineering.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and use AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of automotive or vehicle products.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Must be able to work onsite and travel to manufacturing plants; work authorization sponsorship is not available for this co-op.
