Mid-Senior Level Electrical/Computer Engineer (Defense): Dissecting complex naval hardware systems at NSWC Crane and documenting component-level configurations, interconnects, signal paths, and bills of materials with an accent on sustainment, modernization, and lifecycle management. Focus on designing hardware test procedures, validating troubleshooting workflows, conducting failure analysis, and supporting repair and modification recommendations.

Location: Bloomington, IN, United States; engineering support is provided for Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane.

What you will do

  • Identify, remove, and categorize internal hardware components and subassemblies.
  • Analyze system architecture, interconnects, signal paths, and functional hardware blocks.
  • Develop bills of materials, parts lists, configuration records, and component documentation.
  • Produce engineering documentation aligned with NSWC Crane standards and Navy technical requirements.
  • Design hardware test procedures and collaborate with test engineers and technicians to validate them.
  • Support acceptance testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair recommendations, lifecycle support, and root-cause investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
  • Hands-on hardware engineering mindset with strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, documentation, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and schematic interpretation.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing power electronics systems.
  • Experience developing troubleshooting and repair procedures.
  • Experience conducting hazard analysis for high-voltage work environments.
  • Experience with silicone and epoxy-based high-voltage encapsulation materials.
