Estimating Engineer Intern – Summer 2027

Location: Lansing, Michigan, with opportunities in the Grand Rapids and Detroit regions; active project site visits are required.

What you will do

• Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
• Survey and quantify materials, organize auditable quantity takeoffs, and estimate interiors.
• Learn 2D On-Screen Takeoff, 3D quantity takeoff, estimating, collaboration, and document-control technologies.
• Develop construction pricing knowledge and contact trade contractors and suppliers for pricing.
• Learn how mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems interact with building architecture and function.
• Visit active project sites and support Virtual Design & Construction work, including 4D models, facility asset management models, VR, and AR applications.

Requirements

• Active full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
• Visa sponsorship or transfer of existing employment visa sponsorship is not available.
• Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including drug and background screening.

Nice to have

• Previous work or internship experience in commercial construction.
• Participation or leadership in student organizations or extracurricular clubs.
