Location: Washington DC Metro, United States

Salary: $93,500–$187,600 per year, plus eligibility for a discretionary performance-based bonus.

What you will do

  • Develop, review, and maintain interpretive accounting guidance and educational training courses.
  • Monitor FASB and IASB standard-setting activities and help draft comment letters on proposed accounting standards updates.
  • Lead or co-lead training courses covering accounting and financial reporting topics.
  • Support subject matter experts, engagement teams, and National Professional Standards Group members on complex accounting consultations.
  • Collaborate with Audit Innovation to use AI, tools, prompts, and agents for more reliable financial reporting research and consultation execution.
  • Travel approximately 10% of the year for teaching, training programs, team meetings, projects, and professional organization activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and an active CPA license.
  • At least five years of current or recent experience in public accounting, financial reporting, or technical accounting.
  • Broad working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and excellent accounting research skills.
  • Experience developing technical accounting publications, such as whitepapers and accounting guides, and educational training courses.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and manage multiple projects or consultations.
  • Entry-level candidates requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future are not intended to be hired.

Nice to have

  • Experience across complex areas including consolidations, derivatives and hedging, debt and equity arrangements, financial instruments, credit losses, income taxes, business combinations, leases, revenue recognition, debt modifications, share-based compensation, and fair value measurements.
  • Experience with public company accounting and SEC financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of IFRS and significant differences between IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
