Custom Packaging Design Engineer Co-Op (Summer/Fall 2026)

Location: Onsite at the ORBIS Corporation location in Greenville, South Carolina; travel to manufacturing plants is required.

What you will do

• Lead and manage assigned packaging design projects.
• Create design samples and cost-effective, manufacturable packaging designs based on customer and sales requirements.
• Apply knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering, and packaging engineering to develop customer-specific solutions.
• Fabricate prototypes and verify design quality before manufacturing and customer approval.
• Identify and suggest solutions for issues found during assembly and manufacturing.
• Follow company safety policies and seek guidance from design team members or the manager when needed.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education and pursuing a technical or bachelor's degree in Plastic Engineering Technology, Packaging Engineering, or a related field.
• Junior or senior standing in the degree program.
• Knowledge of plastic processing, mechanical engineering, packaging engineering, and automotive or vehicle products.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and use design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
