Compiler Engineer (LLVM)

Location: Remote from Canada, initially based virtually in the greater metropolitan area of Toronto, Ontario. An office in the Toronto area is planned; once operational, the role will follow a hybrid model requiring on-site presence at least four days per week. Remote work from other countries is not permitted.

Annual salary: CAD 155,888–220,069, depending on location and experience.

What you will do

• Develop new features for hirify.global’s open-source LLVM-based compiler stack.
• Enable the latest C, C++, SYCL, and Fortran language standards.
• Build and improve compiler components for hirify.global CPU and GPU platforms.
• Collaborate upstream with the Clang and LLVM open-source communities.
• Investigate complex compiler problems and develop performant, scalable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Informatics, or a related technical discipline with 5+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience with C/C++, object-oriented programming, and data structures.
• Hands-on compiler development experience.
• Technical contributions to open-source projects and Clang, including commits, patches, or reviews.
• Hands-on LLVM experience with optimization passes, code generation, or frontend integration.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and solution-development skills.

Nice to have

• Deep understanding of C/C++ language constructs.
• oneAPI or similar vendor toolchain development experience.
• Participation in C, C++, Khronos, or other standards committees.
