Buyer Senior Staff (Medical Devices)

Location: Alajuela, Costa Rica

What you will do

• Manage MRP-driven purchasing, project sourcing, expediting, prioritization, and cost optimization.
• Evaluate suppliers, obtain competitive bids, monitor performance, resolve issues, and support supply continuity.
• Manage high-impact commodities, optimize inventory levels and turns, and address excess, obsolete, or expired inventory.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Quality, Manufacturing, and project teams to ensure material availability.
• Maintain purchasing master data and approved supplier lists while ensuring compliance with FDA, BSI, and company requirements.
• Lead complex procurement initiatives, drive process improvements, support strategic projects, and mentor junior Buyers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, International Commerce, Supply Management, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of progressive experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing.
• Advanced English proficiency at B2+ level.
• Proven negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing skills.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, communication, problem-solving, judgment, and stakeholder-influence skills.
• Ability to analyze technical, business, and regulatory information and advise management on complex procurement matters.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Experience in the medical device industry.
