Lead Software Architect, Cloud & AI Modernization — myAvatar (Onsite)Overland Park, KS

Location: Onsite in Overland Park, Kansas; candidates must live in or relocate to the Greater Kansas City metro area.

What you will do

• Lead architecture decisions and modernization strategy for the myAvatar platform.
• Design scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performing application architectures with engineering teams.
• Provide hands-on guidance through design reviews, code reviews, prototyping, and reference architectures.
• Modernize legacy systems using modularization, API-first design, domain-driven design, service decomposition, and cloud-native patterns.
• Partner with DevOps and cloud infrastructure teams on deployment, observability, reliability, automation, and operational readiness.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns, standards, documentation, and guidance while communicating technical tradeoffs across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background as a Software Architect, Lead Engineer, Technical Lead, Senior Architect, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-scale application development, legacy application modernization, and cloud-enabled architecture.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, cloud-native patterns, distributed systems, APIs, microservices or modular architecture, CI/CD, observability, and DevOps.
• Experience with enterprise technologies such as Java, .NET, C#, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or similar ecosystems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence without direct authority in a matrixed organization.
• Must work onsite in Overland Park, Kansas, and be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Healthcare technology, EHR, clinical workflow, human services, post-acute, care management, or other regulated-industry experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, event-driven systems, DevOps, or platform engineering.
• Exposure to AI/ML, LLMs, MLOps, responsible AI, or intelligent automation in enterprise software.
• Experience translating client or market needs into technical architecture with Product and Engineering.
