Certified Welding Inspector I

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with extensive travel across central Pennsylvania and central Ohio

Salary: USD $38.25–$42.00 per hour

What you will do

• Perform third-party DOT structural steel fabrication quality assurance inspections and reporting.
• Inspect bridge and structural steel fabrication at AISC-certified facilities.
• Conduct visual testing in accordance with applicable code requirements.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, ASTM and AASHTO requirements, and project provisions.
• Inspect high-strength bolt testing and installation, including Grade 325 bolts.
• Work with fabrication, construction, and quality personnel while maintaining client relations.

Requirements

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification is required and will be verified.
• At least three years of project experience with structural steel fabrication.
• Previous bridge or structural fabrication inspection experience in QC or QA.
• Familiarity with AASHTO/AWS D1.5 and AASHTO/AWS D1.1 standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, report-writing ability, and proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Good driving record, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass pre-hire drug screening.

Nice to have

• NDT Level I or Level II certification in UT, MT, PT, or radiographic interpretation; MT is preferred for bridge fabrication.
• ICC Structural Bolting certification or experience inspecting high-strength bolt testing and installation.
• NACE/SSPC coating certification or structural steel coating inspection experience.
