Respiratory Therapist III (Adult Critical Care/NICU)

Location: Tufts Medical Center; rotating day and night shifts.

Pay range: $43.00–$51.67 per hour.

What you will do

• Provide respiratory care for patients of all age groups with cardiopulmonary dysfunction, including adult critical care and NICU patients.
• Initiate, manage, adjust, and wean patients from invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
• Administer oxygen, aerosolized and inhaled medications, positive-pressure breathing, nitric oxide, and other prescribed therapies.
• Perform blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, EKGs, and other diagnostic and monitoring procedures.
• Provide airway management, manual resuscitation, and respiratory support during emergencies and high-risk deliveries.
• Transport mechanically ventilated and other high-risk patients, maintain equipment, document care, and support staff education.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• Massachusetts respiratory care license required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist credential; RRT required for employment at Tufts Medical Center.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Basic Life Support certification and Adult Critical Care Specialist or Neonatal/Pediatric Care Specialist certification.
• Successful completion of NICU training, including external Neonatal Transport Team training, is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• Two years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
